Summer is in full swing at Kris’ Fish and Chips and we just wanted to share a couple photos! Also hoping everyone had a great Icelandic Festival weekend. We sure did! Was so much fun having the Festival de Voyageur crew in the restaurant after the parade. If you haven’t had a chance to check our back decks, please come by soon! (featured in the photo)
If you haven’t already done so, you must come by to see our new cedar bar and tables in the front and back patio. These chic new tables provide a TON of comfortable seating for you to enjoy your tasty meal. Post a picture of yourself in our new patio spaces on the Kris’ Fish and Chip Facebook page for a chance to win lunch for two. A shout out to our architect Lianne Venness for all her hard work!
It was a beautiful day with crunchy white snow, warm sunshine and a lot of spirit. There were more than 30 participants who ran or cycled 18 miles across Lake Winnipeg. (There were even some double crossers!!!) Many stayed to enjoy pickerel and chips at Kris’ Fish and Chips for dinner! Congratulations to all the athletes and thank you to all the volunteers who made it possible. To see more pictures visit the Polar Bear Run FB page or Greg’s flicker page.
As the days are getting longer we are now on Spring Hours!

Winter and Bonspeil specials are now over… keep posted for upcoming spring and summer specials.
This year’s Polar Bear Run is fast approaching as is the excitement of runners and fat tire cyclists that will be joining the challenge. The Polar Bear run is an unsanctioned race that has been going strong for 20 plus years. Jeff Badger first ran the 18 mile crossing with his sons beside him on ATV’s and his father waiting for him in Grand Beach. This run/bike is for those who want to experience the vastness of the lake, bright sunshine and a physical challenge unlike any other.
There is STILL room to sign up! Registration is $25 and includes a coupon for a 40z pickerel and chips from Kris’ Fish and chips. The money is used to pay for the support crew and any extra monies will be donated towards this year’s Habitat for Humanity ride. Please fill out the attached application and waiver form and send to Jeff Badger asap!
Check out this article from Community news 2014 for more pictures and reading. GOOD LUCK to all the participants!!!

We would like to welcome the winners from this year’s “Warming Huts“, architecture and arts competition to Kris’ Fish and Chips this Saturday. The Warming Huts competition, which attracts architects from all over the globe, “push[es] the envelope of design, craft and art” as competitors come up with unique warming hut concepts for Winnipeg’s famous Red River Mutual Trail. The winners of the 2016 competition are busy constructing their visions right now at the Forks. When they are finished later this week the huts will be brought out to the trail for visitors to skate to and enjoy. We hope you all enjoy your Kris’ dinner this Saturday!
Fun was had by all, with a bonfire on frozen Lake Winnipeg and then a delicious Kris’ dinner. Congratulations again to all the architects and thanks for coming to Gimli for a visit!
